深切追思 創辦人 劉金標先生

Giant Group expresses its deepest respect and profound sorrow at the passing of our founder, Mr. King Liu, who passed away peacefully on February, 16, 2026, at the age of 93.
Since founding Giant Group, he led with a passion for cycling and a spirit defined by openness, pragmatism, and continuous improvement. He believed that bicycles could help the world become healthier, more connected, and closer to nature. This belief transcended languages and borders, shaping the lives of countless people around the world and forming the foundation on which Giant Group continues to move forward globally.
Today, we honor not only the life he lived, but also a riding journey that continues to unfold across the world. The values and vision to which he dedicated his life will continue to guide us on the road ahead.
Driving is too fast, walking is too slow.
Only by cycling can we truly appreciate the beauty of life.
Thank you for leading us to discover the world on two wheels. Though your presence is no longer beside us, the direction you set remains ahead, and the spirit you embodied will continue through every ride we take.
Opening New Possibilities for the World
Mr. King Liu dedicated his life to advancing cycling — strengthening the industry, improving cities, and fostering a meaningful cycling culture.
He brought partners together and helped build standards that opened the way for Taiwan’s bicycle industry to enter the global stage. With the founding of GIANT in 1981, he guided the brand internationally and encouraged more people to experience cycling as a way to connect with the land and with one another.
After completing his round island ride at seventy three, he continued cycling around the world, inviting more people to step into the landscape and imagine more rider friendly cities. Public bike systems were among his most committed efforts; from concept to daily use, he pushed forward with unwavering conviction. When YouBike became part of everyday life, he said: “This is one of the most meaningful things I have accomplished in my life.”
In his later years, he established the Cycling Culture Museum, allowing bicycles to be not only used but also understood and remembered.

King Liu 1934 — 2026
Thank you for a lifetime of inspiration
King Liu founded Giant Group with vision and determination. Inspired by a gathering with friends, he entered the bicycle industry, standardized components, and helped Taiwan overcome manufacturing challenges.

He initiated the Tour de Taiwan, the nation’s first international cycling race, showing that bicycles could be more than transport—becoming part of sport and culture.

Facing order cancellations, he led the shift from OEM to branding. GIANT became a turning point, reshaping the company’s future and elevating Taiwan’s global bicycle presence.

He began global expansion in Europe, establishing Giant Group’s first overseas company in the Netherlands. After a factory opened in 1996, a local road was named in his honor.

Responding to industry relocation and price competition, he united partners to upgrade Taiwan’s bicycle industry through supply chain integration, shared technology, and improved quality.

After daily training, he completed a 927 km ride around Taiwan in 15 days at age 73, inspiring many and helping promote cycling tours that encouraged more people to ride.

Completed the 1,668km Beijing-to-Shanghai trek. This sparked the "Ride Like King" tradition held every May, where global rides are converted into bicycle donations for students in Africa.

He advanced YouBike, rapidly expanding stations and ridership, transforming Taipei’s mobility and bringing cycling into everyday urban life.

To inspire broader understanding of cycling culture, he led the creation of Asia’s first cycling culture museum in Taichung, expanding cycling’s social and cultural influence.

Founder King Liu received the UN World Bicycle Day Special Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his lifelong impact on global cycling and Taiwan’s emergence as a leading bicycle nation.
